Ingredients

  • 4 lb. boneless pork butt
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce

Instructions

  • Preparation: Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
  • Season the Pork: In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, paprika, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Rub this spice blend all over the pork butt, ensuring it's evenly coated.
  • Roast the Pork: Place the seasoned pork in a Dutch oven. Cover with the lid and roast in the preheated oven for approximately 160 minutes (about 40 minutes per pound), or until the pork is tender enough to be easily shredded with forks.
  • Shred the Pork: Remove the pork from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes. Using forks, shred the meat into bite-sized pieces.
  • Mix with Barbecue Sauce: Transfer the shredded pork to a large bowl. Pour the barbecue sauce over the pork and mix well to ensure all the meat is evenly coated.
  • Serve: Enjoy your oven-baked pulled pork on buns, with coleslaw, or as desired.

Notes

  • For a smokier flavor, add 1 teaspoon of smoked paprika to the spice blend.
  • Leftover pulled pork can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
